Avoiding Oil Change Rip-Offs

If you are tired of having your car serviced only to feel ripped off every time, it is time to take control of the situation. Oil change businesses are known for upselling their customers, and providing services that may or may not need to be done. Knowing their tricks will help you to get the services you need, without paying more than you need to.

1.    If the business is offering the choice between a basic service and a signature service, go with the basic. There is usually very little difference, and the extra cost for signature ends up being wasted.

2.    Oil change businesses will always try to sell you a more expensive kind of premium oil. For most cars, this is completely unnecessary—basic will do the job just fine, for a fraction of the cost.

3.    Some places will try to charge you for an oil filter replacement—nine times out of ten, no replacement is done at all. To see if this is happening to you, make a small “x” mark with a sharpie on your oil filter before you take your car in. Check to see if the same filter is in your car, after the services have been performed. If they charged you for a replacement, you can catch them in the lie!

4.    They will most likely come to you with a list of services that “need” to be provided. It is best to pass on all of them, and then look into the need for them later, with someone you trust. It is their job to upsell you, but you do not have to buy into it every time.

If you are careful to follow these tips, you will be able get the best services available, for the price they are worth. Come visit the trustworthy people at Diamond Glass today, for the windshield replacement that your car needs.

Choosing the Right Windshield Replacement Company for Your Vehicle

If your vehicle is in desperate need of a windshield replacement, knowing which company to go with for the job can be a tough decision. There are so many different options to go with, and choosing the best one for you and your car is very important.

When you are trying to select the right company to do the job, make sure that you consider a few different things. What are your top priorities? Some people value speed of service over price, while others prefer a low price over the quality of product being used. Think about what is most important to you, to help you narrow down your different choices.

You may want to consider looking online at the different reviews you can find for local companies. Their customer reviews can offer good insight when it comes to their business model, their level of service, etc.

If you call for a quote, be sure to ask them if they have your size windshield in stock. It is also a good idea to ask if they offer any kind of warranty to guarantee their work. This can greatly help you to narrow down your choices!

If you are in need of a windshield repair or replacement, be sure to check out the professionals at Diamond Glass today. You and your vehicle deserve the absolute best in the business!

Properly Installing Your Windshield Wipers

Once you have your brand new Diamond Glass windshield installed, it is time to replace those old windshield wipers! Wipers can do wonders when it comes to increasing your visibility, and keeping you safe in a storm.

Knowing how to install them properly is very important. The process may seem simple enough, but installing them improperly could cause them to fly off your car onto the freeway when you need them the most! To ensure that they are going to stay intact, follow these steps:
  1. Carefully remove the old wipers—they are metal, and can easily damage your glass windshield.
  2. Looking at the side of the wiper where it attaches to the metal arm, you will see that one end of the plastic clip is flat and the other has a curve across the top. Rotate the plastic clip until this curve is pointing toward the wiper blade.
  3. Hold the wiper upside down next to the metal wiper arm, where you will see that the curve in the arm matches the curved top of the plastic clip.
  4. Lower the wiper over the wiper arm, putting the arm between the sides of the wiper and with the open end of the "hook" facing the plastic clip.
  5. Move the hook over the plastic clip, then pull the wiper upward so that the clip's rounded edge slides into the hook.
  6. Pull it tight so the assembly clicks into place.
The process is now complete. Make sure that you replace your wipers as soon as they start functioning less than perfectly. Windshield wipers are essential to your safety while driving—install your new wipers today!

Learning How to Maintain Your Car

Buying a car is a big responsibility.  There is a lot of maintenance that is associated with keeping up a car.  It is important that when you become a car owner you understand what regular maintenance will need to take place with your car.

You should be taking care of your:
  • Air conditioning
  • Air filtration
  • Cooling system
  • Electrical System
  • Engine Services
  • Fuel System
  • Tires
There are many different auto shops that will check all of these systems in your car and ensure that your car is in good working order. You should make sure that you are taking your car into a shop on a consistent basis if you do not have the ability or tools to take care of your car from home.

Although some of the maintenance can be complicated and advanced there are some simple routines that you can learn to perform from home. Changing your oil is something that you can learn to do from your own home.

When you learn how you are going to change your oil you want to make sure that you learn from someone that has been doing it for a long time.  A professional or an expert will be able to teach you the proper method for changing the oil in your car.

Buying the equipment that is necessary to change your oil will be a minimal cost when you calculate how much you would have spent on multiple oil changes.
