Possible Hazards for Your Windshield

There is a wide array of objects and situations that can damage your windshield when they are encountered. These hazards can sometimes present themselves every unexpectedly, so keeping an eye out for them is recommended!

Debris of any kind can be harmful when impacted, and the weather can make certain weaknesses in the windshield worse. Here is a list of some of the possible damaging things that can be commonly encountered.

  1. Flying rocks. This is especially common when you are driving on the road. The small rocks that are kicked up by traffic can chip and crack your windshield on impact.
  2. Falling objects. If you are parked underneath an overhang or a tree, then there is the potential for stuff to drop onto your windshield and damage it.
  3. The weather. Fluctuations in temperature can cause the glass to expand and contract. If there is a weakness present, then this action can lead to cracking.
  4. Human error. Sometimes, people can damage their windshields by scraping them with the wrong tool, crack them by pouring water of extreme temperature, or have them chipped by having stuff thrown into them. Sometimes, life just happens and the damage does too.

There are many possible hazards that can damage your windshield. Caution when driving is always recommended. However, sometimes accidents happen, so be sure to take your windshield in for a repair as soon as is possible.

Given the crazy weather and potential for flying objects in Utah, it’s sometimes best to expect the unexpected!
